A Home That Curves to Meet You: The Reedy Creek Renovation

When we met our client from Reedy Creek, the design was already done. She'd worked with a designer to get exactly what she wanted on paper, down to the last curved detail. What she needed was someone with the skill and the willingness to actually build it.

That's where we came in.

The brief covered two bathrooms, a main and an ensuite. Both were designed to speak the same language, and both were built around an idea that ran through every surface, every fitting, and every fixture: that curves, used with intention, can transform a bathroom from a functional room into something that feels genuinely different to be inside.

The penny round mosaic is where that idea is most visible. A blend of white, grey, warm stone and burnished gold tones, it appears in both bathrooms and in both rooms it does the heavy lifting. In the ensuite it runs the full length of the vanity wall, wraps around the arched shower entry, surfaces the two curved shower seats inside the shower, and lines the backs of the niches. In the main bathroom it fills the entire feature wall behind the vanity, floor to ceiling, and wraps the shower side wall. It's the same tile in both rooms, but the way it's used gives each space its own character.

The arches are the other constant. In the ensuite, the shower entry is a full tiled arch in penny rounds, structural and decorative at once. In the main bathroom, two arch-topped mirrors float above the vanity against that same mosaic wall, echoing the form in a softer register. The arched language was part of the original design brief and it shows. Nothing about it feels added on.

Both showers follow the same resolved approach. Large-format tiles in a warm grey, ceiling-mounted rain heads and slide rail handhelds in brushed brass, and tiled niches for storage. The shower in the ensuite has the curved mosaic seats, which are the detail that stops people when they see the photos. They're not benches. They're fully formed sculptural objects, tiled on every face, and they give the shower a sense of ease that's hard to put into words.

The vanity is the same in both rooms, wall hung with integrated handle recesses and a Silksurface stone benchtop in Riverina. The family resemblance between the two bathrooms is immediate and intentional. Walk from one to the other and you feel the continuity without it ever feeling repetitive.

The tapware is brushed brass throughout, in both rooms, on every fitting. Basin mixers, rain heads, slide rails, towel rails, soap holders, waste covers. The consistency does something very specific. It gives both spaces warmth without weight, and it ties the whole project together in a way that feels considered rather than matched.

The main bathroom has its own centrepiece in the corner bath, an asymmetric freestanding form that tucks into the corner without losing any of its personality. Fed by a wall-mounted brass spout, it sits against the large-format grey wall tiles with two plantation shuttered windows above it, and the whole scene is exactly what our client had in mind when she brought her designer's plans to us.

What Made This Project Special

There's a particular satisfaction in a job like this one. The design was already great. Our client and her designer had done that work. Our job was to honour it, to bring the craftsmanship that a brief like this deserves, and to not flinch at the details that made other builders say no.

The curved seats. The arched tiled entry. The mosaic running consistently across every feature surface in both rooms. These aren't things you can approximate. You either commit to them or you don't.

We committed, and we're proud of the result.
